If you neglect to perform maintenance, you will risk being audited.
IF subject to audit you will not be able to operate your fleet, and will most likely have to pay a fine for each aircraft that is not up to date on a-checks.
It is highly recommended to keep your maintenance up to date in order to avoid audits.
