First of make sure your players who are not "protective" are protected. You do this by placing protective players "close by" these players.

Make sure that especially those players with low resilience are well protected. Otherwise they are easy target and sitting ducks for a brutality hit causing them to malfunction completely.

When a brutal player tries to make a hit the player being targeted (or the protector if one steps in) will use these abilities to avoid being hit (in prioritized order):
To increase the chances of making a hit the following matters (in prioritezed order)
- The protection score your player has
- Your player's ability in "vision"
- Your player's ability in "speed"
- Your player's ability in "robustness"
- Your club expertise in protection (if your club has it)
- Your player's ability in "tackling"
- Your player's ability in "heading"

If a hit is made the damage is based on the player who hit you's "brutality score" and his "robustness" ability and your own player's "protection score" and "resilience" ability.

So if you get hit with a brutal tackle on a player with no protection score and low resilience, the damage will be huge.
